Mister Wolf returns in the fall with a serious look about him. He talks with Pol while Garion is listening in. It seems that things are not quite as they seem. Something has been stolen by someone and Wolf intends to find it. Garion is overjoyed to hear he will be going with.
Later he sees Aunt Pol going to talk with Faldor. After she enters the building, Garion also notices Brill listening in himself. Faldor and Pol appear at the door saying goodbyes and Garion hurries off. He keeps quiet about Brill since that would bring himself into question.
At Dinner a new story of ghosts and greed is told by Mister Wolf. Brill expresses his discontent for the story. Pol and Wolf realize that Brill is probably a spy. Wolf and the boy go to find Brill, but he was not at home. They went to the stables and found him trying to flee. A skirmish takes place and Durnik shows up to disarm Brill. The group binds Brill and leave on the start of their journey.
Now we wonder what is going to happen to this unlikely quad. Durnik, Garion, Aunt Pol and Mister Wolf. Why do the Murgos need to spy on them? What has been stolen thats so important? Where are they going first? Will Aunt Pol ever tell Garion what is going on?
This is a pivotal chapter in which a lot of important things start to be shown. Garion seems to have a battle-sense manifesting as before with Rundorig. This has me very excited to read the next chapter. I feel an adventure brewing!
Next Chapter 6.
